it is finished.

i made these two ornaments as christmas gifts for some good friends of our this year. i had a lot of fun doing it & i'm so excited that i actually got them completed in enough time. though my embroidery skills are far from amazing, i'm quite proud of myself. now i just have to finish the 5 other things i have going on right now. i'm confident i can have it all done by christmas...we'll see.

i bought a bunch of new fabric from joann's this weekend to make some stuff for my benjamin & his new cousin.

i have material cut for 2 blankets that are ready to sew.

i'm almost finished making modifications to my sewing apron. it's super cute!

i am crocheting a blanket that is about 1/4 of the way finished.

i have enough yarn to make lots of christmas gifts.

i'm in the process of sorting my paper so i can start my christmas cards.

i'm really sucking on being crafty lately. i mostly like to start projects & not finish them so there hasn't really been much to post lately. 

i was able to actually finish one thing recently, a baby blanket for a friend that turned out really nice. but of course, i forgot to take a picture of it so i have nothing to show for it. 

here's what i'm working on now:

i'm using a dark grey, a linen, and a dark red yard to complete the granny squares. it's the first time i've ever attempted a blanket like this & so far it's coming out really well. it'll eventually be a gift for a friends baby. hopefully i can get motivated & finish it soon.

i plan on having more to report on as christmas comes. i'm going to try to make most of my gifts this year.

new stuff...finally.

today i went to michael's and bought some new supplies. i love love love these new green & blue colors. and i bought 2 new lionbrand crochet hooks. my collection is now complete. 

i used the new blue to make a baby beanie. it's my first mini beanie & i think it came out pretty well. by march when i'm due i'll have every color made!

this is a shell blanket i finished recently. i love the bright colors & hopefully my cousin will, too. it's a little late, but it's still perfect baby size. 

i finished this blanket a few weeks ago & i love it. it was my first time working with cotton yarn & i learned a lot doing it. it was a super easy & fast gift to make. 

new idea.

i have serious problems finishing a project before i start a new one. last night instead of doing my homework like i should've been (what else is new?) i started this cute little capelet in black (of course). i'm using lion brand worsted weight acrylic yarn. i've been trying to get away from using synthetic yarn & start using more natural organic fibers, but unfortunately due to cost i haven't been able to fully make the switch. and even though i've been crocheting for awhile now, it's nice to learn using acrylic yarn because if i really screw something up i only waste a couple of dollars. this is moving along nicely...maybe i'll finish it up on my long drive to utah this weekend...i guess i could finish my other projects, too. haha.

petite scarf update

so i have had the actual scarf finished for a little while, but i've been having trouble with the flower. i have done it a few times & i don't really like how it's coming out. i think i'm going to put buttons on it to close it. i'll post pictures soon.

i've been pretty uncreative lately. i can't wait till school's over & i have some time to finish all my projects.

i started my petite scarf in black (of course)! i'm really stoked about it, it's coming along nicely so far. hopefully it'll be finished by the end of the week. i have homework that desperately needs to be finished so i need to deny my crocheting urges until my project for school is completed.

I like this a lot & I think I've got some acrylic yarn sitting around to try it. What do you think? Would I be able to pull off a petite scarf this spring? Or is it totally lame?

I checked out Subversive Seamster today from the library & I'm so excited about it. It has a lot of really great ideas where you take regular old thrift store finds you'd never pick up and make them into something awesome to wear. I really really want to go shopping now to find some new material for stuff to make. I haven't been sewing for very long, but the ideas are so simple that even I could conquer them. We'll see how they turn out...

it's all happening.

i'm excited. i have this creative urge flowing through me that i just can't resist. i have so many projects in the works i don't have nearly enough time to finish them all. i only wish that i didn't have school & work so i could give into my urge entirely.
